A tall blond chick walked onto the familiar dock. “Hi, I’m Cameron MacClean, Chris MacClean’s niece, and host of Total Deviant Art Island. We’ve spent the past few months scouring the art website deviantart.com trying to find off-beat strange people. Well, we’ve found 39 of them, and have invited all of them to compete here at Camp Wawanakwa. We were going to go hold it somewhere else but…budget cuts. Anyway, our 39 16-year-old contestants will be competing against each other for a brand new car of their choice, stuffed with cash! Now, what will happen? Find out as the campers arrive, here on Total! Deviant Art! Island!”

“Here come the first of the contestants!” Cameron said, as a boat featuring two teens, both dressed in black shirts and jeans, pulled up. The two hopped of the boat, and it sped off.

“Joey. Savannah. Nice to see you two,” Cameron said.

“What is this?” Savannah asked, looking at Wawanakwa. “Some kind of joke?”

“Nope. No joke,” Cameron said.

“Come on, baby,” Joey said coolly, and he and Savannah stood at the end of the dock as another boat arrived, carrying a kid dressed wearing an orange sweatshirt.

“Michael. What’s up?” Cameron asked. The kid just turned and looked at the host, and then quietly stood at the end of the dock.

A boat carrying two girls, one in red and black polka dots, the other in a grayish shirt and blue shorts, arrived.

“Hey, I’m Lulu, and this is my sister Curly!” the one in polka dots said quickly.

“Hey, Cameron!” Curly blurted, and gave a large smile. Cameron just looked at the two girls strangely, and they moved to the end of the dock, quietly talking to each other.

A kid with black hair and pale skin arrived.

“Nick, welcome to TDAI!” Cameron said.

“Whatever,” was the response as the goth walked right past.

A boat arrived with two somewhat strange looking kids. One had black hair with red streaks, and the other had hair with a strange shade of bluish white.

“You two must be Shadow and Silver…?” Cameron said.

“Yes,” Shadow answered quickly.

“It’s just your profile said you were hedgehogs?”

“Oh, the Emeralds are powerful things,” Silver said, with a completely serious face. The campers who had arrived looked around uncomfortably, some trying to stifle laughs.

A boat with a girl in a skirt and black and pink shirt pulled up.

“You must be Jenna?”

Jenna just nodded quickly, and moved to the end of the dock.

“Looks like we’ve got some shy ones…Hey, it’s Liam!” Cameron said, as a boy with shaggy brown hair stolled onto the dock.

“Peace, man,” Liam grinned.

A goth girl with red and black hair arrived.

“Juliette, welcome to Wawanakwa,” Cameron said. Juliette gave a look of distaste, but moved to the end of the dock.

Next to arrive was a blond girl with a white shirt.

“Hello, Mandie.”

“Hey!” she said cheerfully.

A boat carrying an Asian girl arrived.

“Chloe, welcome to the show!” Cameron said.

“Konichiwa! That means hello!” she said, and gave a wide smile.

“Great,” Juliette said, with a touch of sarcasm.

Another boat pulled up. A boy with black hair and a brownish shirt hopped out.

“Torrent, right?”

“Yup,” he said, and moved to the end of the dock, as another boy with black hair and darker skin arrived.

“Julian, what’s up?”

“Total Deviant Art Island!” he exclaimed. “This is gonna be so much fun!”

Next to arrive was a girl with brown hair and a light green shirt.

“Lauren?”

The girl nodded, and smiled, but did not respond verbally. Instead, she shuffled to the end of the dock with the other 15 campers.

A girl with long brown hair and pink streaks arrived next.

“Helena. Glad you made it,” Cameron said.

“Glad to have made it,” she responded.

Up next was a skinny kid with a blue shirt and black hair.

“Jonah! Hey!” Cameron greeted him.

“What’s up, everybody?” Jonah beamed.

A girl dressed in green with red hair arrived.

“You must be Dina?”

“Yeah. You’re Cameron, right?”

“Yup,” Cameron said, as another camper arrived. This girl had various shades of brown in her hair, and a green shirt.

“Hey, Lena.”

“Hey…is this Wawanakwa?”

“Yeah. Why?”

“…There’s not going to be hunting challenges right?”

“Maybe…” Cameron gave the same twisted smile her uncle would.

“No animals or plants or anything better be harmed in the making of this show!” Lena said, though not rudely.

“People better not get hurt, either!” Liam added hopefully.

“Well, we’ve met our first 20 campers. Meet the final 19 in part two!” Cameron said.
